Williams earns pre-season All-SIAC baseball honor, Golden Tigers kick off 2012 season


TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Jeremy Williams,  junior picher/infielder, has been named to the 2012 All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pre-season baseball first team.  Williams earned second team pre-season All-SIAC honor in 2011.

Williams, the team’s leading hitter in 2011,  batted .354 in 33 games.  He had a team-high six homeruns, two doubles and 36 RBIs, leading the Golden Tigers to an 18-17 overall record.  Tuskegee finished 11-4 in regular-season conference play.

Head Coach Montressa Kirby was named 2011 SIAC Coach of the Year.  Williams earned second team all-SIAC and Gene Stewart Moody (infielder/outfielder) was named to the 2011 all-tournament team.

The Golden Tigers opened their 40-game 2012 schedule last week on the road, losing three games to the Fighting Knights of Lynn University, Boca Raton, Fla.

Joining the 15 returning veterans are 13 freshmen, including 8 pitchers.
