Tuskegee’s Pippen signs free agent contract with NFL Denver Broncos


TUSKEGEE, Ala. (May 2, 2012) – Tuskegee University running back DeMario Pippen signed a free-agent agreement with the Denver Broncos recently.  The 5-foot-9 Pippen played his first three years at Jackson State University (Miss.) and his senior season at Tuskegee University.

Pippen started nine of Tuskegee’s ten games in 2011.  He led the Golden Tigers with 125 rushes for 584 net yards and 5 touchdowns.  He caught 15 passes for 126 yards for an average of 8.4 yards per catch.  He finished the season at the No. 2 spot in receptions (15) and in individual scoring (30). 

The physical education major is a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he teamed up with TU quarterback Jeremy Williams at Central High School to win the 4A Alabama state football championship in 2007.  He rushed for 2,214 yards and 20 touchdowns in his senior season and was named to the Alabama Sportswriters Association’s all-state first team.

The Denver Broncos signed NFL veteran quarterback Peyton Manning during the off-season.
