Tuskegee baseball wins NCAA statistical award


TUSKEGEE, Ala. – (June 30, 2011) – The NCAA recently announced that the Tuskegee University baseball team was the 2011 Division II statistical champion in the category of TRIPLES PER GAME.

The Golden Tigers pounded out 28 triples, lead by senior catcher Bryant Chambliss with six.  Cameron Duncan, Cash Oliver and Thomas Bradley each had four.  Tuskegee averaged 0.8 triples per game.

The Golden Tigers finished the season with an 18-17 record, their first winning campaign since 1999.

In recognition of this achievement, Tuskegee will receive a plaque to display in the athletics department’s trophy case.

Tuskegee’s Brandon Stancil garnered the NCAA individual statistical championship for most triples for the 2003 baseball season.

Montressa Kirby coached the Golden Tigers in 2011.  He was named SIAC Coach of the Year.
