Tigerettes eliminated from SIAC Tournament
ATLANTA, Ga. – After winning their opening game on Wednesday evening, the Tuskegee Tigerettes dropped a close second round basketball matchup with Miles College on Thursday afternoon, 66-63. The loss eliminated them from tournament play.
The Tigerettes were scoreless the first six minutes of the game, falling behind the Lady Bears 11-0. At the 9:05 mark in the first half, Keyonnia Cook’s three point shot tied the score, 20-20. The Tigerettes took a three-point lead at 6:22, but trailed at halftime, 35-33.
The Lady Bears had swept the two regular-season games from the Tigerettes, winning each time by one point.
Cook paced the Tigerettes with 22 points and four rebounds. Tequilla Martin added 11 points and 5 assists. Nnenna Eze had nine rebounds and Amelia Dorton grabbed seven caroms.
Martin’s three-point field goal attempt rimmed out of the basket at the buzzer. It would have forced overtime with the score tied, 66-66.
The Lady Golden Bears (20-7) had three players in double figures. Ashley Orphey and Sammeika Thomas netted 17 points each and Toccara Charles added 16.
The Lady Golden Bears will face Stillman on Friday in a semifinal matchup.
The Tigerettes ended the season with a 16-12 overall record.
