Golden Tigers report for fall camp
TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Coach Willie Slater will welcome nearly 100 Golden Tiger football players for fall camp on Wed., Aug. 10. Players will settle into their campus residence hall from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The team will hit the field in shorts on Thursday and Friday and don helmets and shoulder pads on Saturday and Sunday. The Golden Tigers will dress out in full gear on Monday.
The first team scrimmage is set for Sat., Aug. 20.
The Golden Tigers ended the 2010 season on a four-game winning streak and will be seeking to extend the streak when they open the season at home against the Lions of Langston University on Sept. 10.
Tuskegee was 9-2 and Langston was 6-4 in 2010.
The Golden Tigers’ coaching staff remains intact, except for defensive coordinator Reginald Ruffin, who took the head-coaching job at Miles College in Fairfield, Ala. Replacing Ruffin is Forrest Jackson, who will coach linebackers. Joseph Carter will continue coaching safeties as he moves into the defensive coordinator position.
